iPhone 4S jailbreak demonstrated on video

Prolific iOS hacker pod2g posted a video of a jailbroken iPhone 4S running iOS 5.0.1 to his blog. The video showing a clean reboot without a USB connection to the computer — aka, “untethered” — was made by Chronic Dev Team member DHowett, an illustrious iOS developer in his own right. Pod2g says “only a few to wait now” which is a good sign that an untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 is very near indeed, and about to join the untethered jailbreak released for A4 devices on December 27th.

What Pod2g said on his blog:

“My friend @DHowett made a video of an untethered 4S iPhone 4,1 running iOS 5.0.1 some days ago.”

@DHowett is a famous iOS developer and a member of the Chronic Dev Team.

iOS 5.0.1 Update released #Apple

Three weeks after iOS 5 and the iPhone 4S debuted, Apple has released a software update intended to rein in oft-reported problems related to battery life. On Thursday Apple started to make iOS 5.0.1 available to users.
The update, which Apple said last week would be coming soon, is supposed to fix “bugs affecting battery life,” but that’s not all. Original iPad owners that download the update will get multitasking gestures, Documents in the Cloud gets some bug fixes, and Australians’ accent should be better understood via an update to the dictation feature in iOS.
The iOS 5 update can be downloaded to the third- and fourth-generation iPod touch, all iPad models, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S.
