Apple – Introducing in Mac OS X Lion – Coming in July 2011

Attendees at the WorldWide Developer Conference (WWDC) in San Fransisco on Monday got everything that they had expected: Steve Jobs, a new OS X, a new iOS, and the much-rumored iCloud.

New or changed features


Mission Control — Overview of running applications, putting together other Mac OS features including Exposé, Spaces, Dashboard, and full-screen apps.

Launchpad — An application launcher that presents an iOS-like icon grid of installed applications. Multiple pages and grouping apps in folders will be supported.

Full-screen apps — Native, system-wide support for full-screen applications.

Mac App Store — An application store similar to the iOS App Store. It will be made available to Macs running Mac OS 10.6 “Snow Leopard” on January 6, 2011. Like in iOS, it will provide many ways for shoppers to discover apps, one-click installation, and one-click updates of all or selected installed applications.


Multi-touch gestures — Similar to iOS, gestures performed using a multi-touch input device (e.g. Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad) will allow the user to scroll, swipe to different pages, and enter Mission Control.
Apple introduces Lion OS with multi-touch gestures

Mail 5 will feature a redesigned iPad-like fullscreen UI, a more powerful search engine, and support Microsoft Exchange Server 2010. It will also group messages from the same conversation and display them in a streamlined feed, like in Mail on iOS Version 4.

Appfresh – Automatically find and install new versions of your software

About AppFresh
With AppFresh you never miss a new version of your programs. The software will scan your disk for installed programs that automatically determines the version numbers and compares them to the Internet. It will use several big portals.
Was a newer version is found, it can be installed directly from AppFresh.
